Latino Youth in Communication Arts
[Tax ID #: 41-2201363]
Mission:
…to encourage and nurture Latino youth in the communication arts as well as to provide resources and networking opportunities not normally available within the communications industry to help ensure future success.

Latino Youth in Communication Arts, LYCA, is a 501 (C) 3 charitable organization founded by Hispanic actress, model and media personality Celinés Toribio. Celinés formed LYCA in 2005 as an effort to support children in the Latino community of New York, more specifically in the Bronx and Washington Heights neighborhoods. LYCA was developed to help young Latinos interested in pursuing careers in media arts and communication.
In addition to providing resources and training to young people, LYCA’s purpose is to bring awareness of the importance of mentoring the Latino youth. As of 2009, LYCA has provided scholarships totaling over $20,000 to young Latinos interested in exploring their love for dance, radio, television, film, modeling and more.
Celinés Toribio achieved national acclaim within the Latino community as the host of ESPN Deportes’ Sabor a Béisbol. In 2008, she was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful by People en Español magazine. Most recently, she has taken the indie film circuit by storm, starring in films such as Tropico de Sangre alongside Michelle Rodriguez and working with Edward James Olmos on the production of the film America.
